Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) — 2024 Summary

DBWUA’s 2024 Consumer Confidence Report shows that our drinking water met all state and federal drinking water standards. Our water comes from Mountain Lake in Moran State Park, a protected surface water source.

Routine monitoring throughout 2024 showed:
• No coliform bacteria in finished water
• Low nitrate levels well below regulatory limits
• Safe levels of disinfection byproducts
• No VOCs, arsenic, or radiological contaminants detected
• Consistently low turbidity (clear water)
• Lead and copper results from 2022 were below action levels

A temporary boil-water advisory was issued on May 15, 2024, after a main break and lifted on May 22, 2024, once DOH-required testing confirmed the water was safe.

Daily operation and certified water treatment are provided through our partnership with Eastsound Water Users Association.

What “Met All Standards” Means

Washington DOH and EPA set strict limits for contaminants in drinking water. DBWUA’s testing results were below every regulatory limit for 2024.

About Our Water Source

Mountain Lake is a protected surface water source inside Moran State Park. Its forested watershed helps naturally protect water quality before treatment.

How We Treat the Water

Water is filtered through slow sand filters and disinfected with chlorine to remove harmful microbes. Operators monitor the system daily and take routine samples throughout the system.

Why We Test for Everything (Even When Not Required)

In 2024, a full VOC panel was performed—none were detected. Regular monitoring helps ensure the long-term safety of the system.

What Is Turbidity?

Turbidity measures water clarity. Lower numbers mean cleaner water. DBWUA’s turbidity remained consistently low all year.

Who Operates the System?

DBWUA partners with Eastsound Water Users Association for certified daily operations, testing, and monitoring. This ensures the system is managed by licensed professionals while the DBWUA board remains locally governed.
